Please find listed below the 2018/2019 church committee information. For a church to work effectively members of the body must participate. Please look over this information to see where and how you can support the ministries of SHBC.

Gracious God, You have blessed me with many gifts and talents.
Grant me the wisdom to know how to best use them for the glory of Your Name. Jesus, you say, come follow Me. I want to follow You and be faithful to my call. Help me to see in myself what you see, and give me the courage to follow wherever You may lead. Bless the Church with generous hearts, eager to serve Your people and to spread Your Word.
Members of the 18/19 nominating committee are: Linda Farmer, Carol Freeman, Sara Hammack, Mazie Kinney, Denise Wilson and Bob Upton.
The nominating Committee is seeking individuals that are willing to lead a designated area of church ministry.
The Church Clerk is responsible for recording, processing and maintaining accurate records of all church business meeting transactions. The Church clerk (along with possible church office personnel) is responsible for all accurate church membership changes and communication of membership transitions. The Church Clerk may also be asked to keep the minutes in the Church Administrative Business Council meetings.
Sunday School Director
The Sunday School director serves as the general administrative leader of the church’s Sunday School. This person is responsible for coordinating the work of all Sunday School classes, departments, and other Bible study groups toward the overarching purpose of the Sunday School.
Along with financial expertise, the church treasurer must have faith, integrity and impeccable character. Members of the congregation trust the church treasurer to exercise good stewardship in managing their hard-earned contributions
Mange the logistics of running a library on everything from organizing the books to be an informed resource of what is in the library. Provides access to the information by staffing the library at designated times before and after normal church services.
Vacation Bible School Director
The Vacation Bible School leader plays a key role in directing the church’s largest outreach program for children and their families. Manages, organizes and directs volunteers to help children develop a friendship with Jesus, with the Bible, with the church, and with each other.
The Men’s Ministry program works to involve men and boys in missions and service to the church and community. Men’s Ministry is the active pursuit of men in order to connect them to God, His Word, and other men for the purpose of winning, growing, and training God’s man in Christ.
WMU Team (Woman’s Missionary Union)
The WMU challenges Christian believers to understand and be radically involved in the mission of God. Objectives of the WMU is to reflect a biblical understanding of missions and provide a holistic approach to mission’s awareness and participation. WMU encourages and provides opportunities for all church members and other participants to be aware of and involved in missions and cooperates with other mission’s ministries within the congregation to help the congregation fulfill its mission’s potential.
The migrant ministry meets physical and spiritual needs of migrant workers coming into our area. Manages, organizes and directs volunteers to help provide those needs during a week-long operation that feeds an evening meal to those seeking spiritual food.
Organizes, plans and schedules groups using the mission house. Ensures that groups make the appropriate payment. Confirms on arrival and departure dates with group leader(s). Inform appropriate church staff for needed repairs of the facility.
The baptismal committee is there to assist new believers in following Jesus in Christian baptism. Ensures the person being baptized understands the process, what to wear, what to bring and what to expect before, during and after the baptism.
Prayer Team (Tuesday nights)
Church members come together to pray for known needs and request made weekly. This groups meets in the prayer room of the fellowship building at a designated time each Tuesday.
All prayer requests will be kept confidential unless you request that our entire community join in to pray for your personal request. At that point the request will be sent to all members by email.
The music leader directs the congregation, Adult Choir, Youth/Young Adult Choir, as well as the Piano and Organ players. Coordinates music to blend with the pastoral message of the week. Coordinates the audio/visual equipment use and may assist the building and grounds committee in overall maintenance/management of the system.
The finance committee coordinates with the other committees to put together the annual church budget, meeting a realistic and biblical based budget. NOTE: The chairman of deacon and the finance secretary are members of this committee
Manges all aspects of the churches on line media. Keeps material up to date and biblically based. To make sure information is relevant and members information is secure.
Building and Grounds Committee (Includes playground and small chapel)
Maintains all church owned facilities and grounds to meet a standard of acceptance to the church members. Coordinates members and/or contractors to accomplish needed repairs and maintenance.
Prepares the church for Christmas season. Coordinates with members to accomplish decorations and the hanging of the greens. Committee also, removes and stores decorations as needed. Also responsible for the Advent Wreath.
Flowers and Decorations
Coordinates the annual calendar that allows for members to post flowers on any given Sunday in the church sanctuary.
Usher are responsible for meeting and greeting guest as they arrive for church services. May
pass out bulletins and/or collect tithes and offerings. Must be able to answer questions.
Fellowship Dinners & Kitchen Crew Committee
Coordinates members to supply food as needed for fellowship meals, setup and clean of the kitchen and service areas. Maintains adequate supply of stock to include paper products and kitchenware. Schedules Wednesday night and other “help” to carryout church sponsored meals.
Ministry of Care
This committee visits shut-ins and the sick, taking food, writing cards …ETC.) and may include coordinating Nursing Home Ministry (on Friday) and Nursing Home Ministry (on Sunday afternoon).
Teaching Sunday School
Responsible for preparing the lessons and activities that prepare the hearts and minds of people to have a closer relationship with Jesus Christ. Lesson books will be provided by The Sunday School Director. Sunday school Teacher include: 2yr-K4, K5-1st grade, 2nd-5th, 6th-8th, Youth, Young Adults, Mixed Adults, Ladies, Men.
Royal Ambassadors (RAs) is a Bible-centered, church-based, Southern Baptist mission education organization for boys in grades 1-6. The Leader is responsible for preparing the lessons and activities that prepare the hearts and minds of people to have a closer relationship with Jesus Christ and serving His people.
Girls in Action (GA’s)
GAs is a mission’s discipleship organization for girls. Every girl in grades 1–5 can be a part of GAs! Through GAs, girls learn about, pray for, give to, and do missions work. The Leader is responsible for preparing the lessons and activities that prepare the hearts and minds of people to have a closer relationship with Jesus Christ and serving His people.
The preschool years. From babies to kindergartners, Mission Friends provides the building blocks of faith and a basic awareness of God’s love for all people. For Mission Friends leaders, you’ll find resources designed to help you engage preschoolers of all ages in hands-on missions’ discipleship activities.
The following are Paid Positions and managed through the personnel committee
Pastor – Vacant
Minister to the church community through the use of sermons, worship and music. In addition to the Sunday service, pastors also officiate weddings and funerals. Most importantly they perform baptisms, a cornerstone of the church’s beliefs.
Youth Pastor – Jeremiah Young
Under the leadership of the Senior Pastor the Minister of Youth/Students is responsible for giving directions to the overall educational and activities ministry to promote evangelism and discipleship by planning, promoting, coordinating, conducting and evaluating the youth activities of the church.
Secretary- Linda Bailey
Handles the administrative responsibilities and provide a wide range of support to the pastor and his staff.
Financial Secretary – Laura Hatcher
Typical duties include collecting the tithe offerings from the congregation, recording donations, and depositing funds into the correct account. Serving in the role of church treasurer is a special honor and privilege.
Nursery – Vacant
Responsible for age-appropriate care which includes: bottle feeding, changing diapers, maintaining a safe environment, putting children down for naps, holding, sitting with, and cheerfully interacting with children through games, stories, and play.
